Transgender and Gender Identity Awareness

This training is up to an hour and a half in length with a 15 minute break 
Recommended: 60 minutes for students and corporate professionals, 120 minutes for medical professionals

50 people maximum

  • An introductory discussion about “What is gender?” 

  • The differences between sexuality and gender 

  • Understanding Trans* related terminology and definitions of identities 

  • Why the correct pronouns are important 

  • Group discussion: personal experiences with Trans* 

  • Which terminology and language should/ should not be used

  • Explaining social transitioning: Basic | In-depth 

  • Explaining medical transitioning: Basic | In-depth  

  • What is Transphobia, how to stop it and not to be a part of it: Basic     |  In-depth  

  • Legislation and Rights including The Sexual Discrimination Act and Gender Recognition Act: Basic | In-depth  

  • My personal experience 

  • Conclusion, questions/ discussion and helpful resources

  • Which terminology and language should/should not be used 

  • Legislation and  Rights including The Disability Discrimination Act and the Equality Act: Basic |  In-depth   

  • The difference between different gender identity and different sexualities 

  • Stereotyping, unconscious bias and barriers that people with disabilities face around the intersectionality of sexuality and gender identity 

  • The Social and Medical Models of Disability 

  • My personal experience of my intersectionality 

  • Conclusion, questions/ discussion and helpful resources
